Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope the first week has gone well for you and your family. Walking through classrooms across the district the first days of school was so exciting for me. Smiling faces, students eager to learn, staff welcoming students. We are so happy to be back together under one roof! Here are a few more details that may help to make the school year more smooth.
BUS PROTOCOLS REMINDER
Many parents may recall that last year we did not allow bus changes to happen. This is due to COVID measures including seating charts and contact tracing. This practice continues into this year. Please do not call the school or send a note to change the bus your child rides. If there is a parental supervision issue that requires a scheduled change, please talk with your school in advance. We are not able to accommodate daily requests.
CHROMEBOOK PERMISSION SIGNATURES NEEDED!
All students will be given a Chromebook this year. Students who need a hotspot may request it on the Chromebook request paperwork or through our IT support form online. Teachers will periodically be using the Chromebooks in lessons and they also are needed if a classroom needs to go into virtual learning due to a quarantine. Thus we urgently need parents to fill out the form to allow us to send a Chromebook home with the student and so the student can use it in class. If you have not yet done so, please complete this form as soon as possible. Thank you!

LOCAL PEDIATRICIANS SPEAK TO THE OVUU BOARD
On Sept 2, five of our local pediatricians attended the Otter Valley Unified Union Board Meeting to discuss COVID protocols for schools, in particular the wearing of masks. If you would like to watch this one hour discussion, we will post it on our website at www.rnesu.org. Listening without watching might be easier- the video only captures those on zoom and you can hear but not see those who are in person. The full meeting will also be shown on PEGTV shortly. MASK GUIDANCE
Masks must meet the guidance put out by the CDC. Check it out here (Your Guide to Masks | CDC). Masks are required of all students and staff. A student who is not wearing a mask will be sent home and marked absent for the day.
VIRTUAL LEARNING APPLICATION DEADLINE SEPT 3 END OF DAY

BOARD Meetings
In August, Board meetings returned to in-person meetings with a zoom option for those who wish to attend virtually. Meeting information can be found on the district calendar or on the district website, www.rnesu.org,
BUU Board meets Sept 20, 6 pm @ RNESU Central Office with a virtual public forum on Sept. 9 at 6:30 pm
RNESU Board meets Sept 15, 5 pm @ Sudbury
OVUU Board meets Sept. 15, 6 pm @ Sudbury
